Sept 13 - 19

As many of you know I have lost many brain cells and to prove it today I bought a car.

This car appears to have 38,000 miles but I think it is closer to 238,000 miles. It has no radio which is probably good because it has no antenna. It has no AC which I guess doesn’t matter because it has no hard top. Neither door opens easily, andwhen you get them open, they squeak like the doors at Frankenstein’s castle. The rearview mirror is faded but enough to see I still have some hair. When you open the trunk, it has a broken golf club in there to keep the trunk lid open. I am afraid to open the engine compartment. It looks like someone painted clouds on the front and rear hood but someone told me that was oxidation of the paint. Too bad they told me, I kind of liked the clouds look. It looks like it has windshield wipers but the control knob is hanging under the dash, not that I would ever drive it in the rain. I went to put gas in it and never did find the gas cap. For some reason the emergency brake doesn’t work either, like when would I ever have an emergency. The regular brakes work, but they feel like it would be easier to throw out an anchor. I can go on, but when you lack brain cells you find you are easy to please, so I have to say, I sure love this old Buick LeSabre.

People, 20 years ago a tragedy occurred. I would like everyone for a minute to think of the largest restaurant in America sitting on top floor of the World Trade Center Buildings, Windows on the World. I can picture the dishwashers, busboys, waitresses and cooks all go about doing their job like we do all time. The fear and anguish they had to go through was just unfathomable. I feel bad for the general manager who got to work late that day and survived. He said he looked up and saw white flags waving out of the top windows. He realized those were table cloths that his employees were waving in desperation. In our business we become family, and they for sure had a family. It is unthinkable to know your entire family tragically has to go through that. Anyway very little is ever said about those restaurant workers at the top and I just wanted to say “I am so sorry for what happened to you”.
